What is a Skin Check?
A skin check is a head-to-toe exam by a Dermatologist to spot early skin cancer, monitor moles, and check for other abnormalities. Check out this short video below, demonstrating how skin checks are performed.
Full Body Skin Check: You’ll be given a gown to change into for your privacy and comfort. Your provider will examine your skin from head to toe, including the scalp, back, & soles of your feet. If you are wearing any makeup (foundation, concealer, tinted moisturizer), and want a facial exam, you will be asked to remove makeup.
Spot Checks
If any moles or spots need closer evaluation, your provider may use a special skin microscope. No discomfort - just a closer look.
Biopsy (If Needed)
If a spot looks concerning, a quick & simple skin biopsy may be done. This takes just a few minutes, and you’ll be numbed beforehand. Our Medical Staff will call you with the results in approximately 7-14 days. You will receive a call whether the spot needs attention or no further treatment is needed.
Q&A and Treatment Plan
After your skin check, you’ll have time to ask questions, and your provider will explain any follow-up steps or treatments.
